Miniature Semiconductor Technology for Nucleic Acid Synthesis

GenScript's proprietary Miniature Semiconductor Technology (MSC) is the highest density chip for oligo synthesis today, with the potential to reach 200 billion oligos per chip. 

How does it work?

First, the electrodes are activated to create a confined acidic environment. The nucleotides linked to the electrodes are deblocked and a new amidite will couple with the deblocked nucleotides. The amidite solution will be washed away and followed by further rounds of electrochemical deblocking and coupling of nucleotides to complete the oligonucleotide sequence.
